Here at Enable, we are passionate about providing innovative products to improve the lives of our customers.
So when we hear from people who have experienced a better quality of life from using our products, we couldn’t be more delighted and proud of what we do. We spoke with Liz, a woman from the Barossa Valley in South Australia about her journey living with a spinal injury and how the OSKA Aria Mattress helped relieve her pain and enable quality sleeping habits.
"Within two nights of using the OSKA Aria Mattress, the pain and weakness in my legs, when getting up during the night, had improved greatly, now I almost don’t feel any discomfort or weakness in my legs undertaking this activity."
"It all began when I was 13-14 years old. I was on the farm when I fell 20ft down the side of a haystack and landed on the base of my spine. This is where the injury first occurred. Without full knowledge of what the future had in store as far as my back problems, many years passed and I lived my life participating in various activities including sports, climbing, hiking and travel. I am also the mother of two children. However, during my thirties, I had been advised by an orthopaedic specialist of the long-term prognosis for the damage that had happened."
In the years following this prognosis, I did not wrap myself in cotton wool, but got on with life without taking great risks. As I have aged, little by little I have accumulated various pieces of aid equipment to help as the condition deteriorated, all of which have come in handy at times.
The piece of equipment I would like to talk about is the OSKA Aria Mattress. Prior to this purchase, for probably 1-2 years I had been emulating the configuration of raised back and raised knees, using memory foam wedge and pillows under the knees with some relief initially.
As the pain in the lower back increased plus deteriorating circulation in the legs, I realised I had to investigate further.
Within two nights of using the OSKA Aria Mattress, the pain and weakness in my legs, when getting up during the night, had improved greatly, now I almost don’t feel any discomfort or weakness in my legs undertaking this activity.
- There has been an overall relief of pain in my lower back, without any pain being felt at times.
- Being able to have a good night’s sleep is wonderful.
- Being able to adjust the bed so easily, when necessary is great.
- Being able to adjust the height of the bed is so beneficial. Anyone with lower back problems should always have their bed, chair etc at a height that makes their knees a little lower than their hips. This lessens the strain on the back when rising.
And overall, since sleeping on the bed, and the results, "I feel that with sensible activities and care, I can stay independent and mobile."
We are happy that we could help Liz on her journey of pain management. And we are thrilled that the OSKA Aria Mattress could improve comfort and support where needed.
