Choosing the right chair
Finding the perfect, customisable pressure care chair can be a real challenge. The chair for your elderly parent or patient needs to be comfortable and provide all the support they need. For the disabled, the chair may need to be able to tilt for easier access when using a hoist or manual transfer aid. For both aged care and the disabled, the chair needs to be able to be customised as no two persons are the same. Everybody has their own preferences and needs when it comes to a chair, especially one to be used for prolonged periods of time due to disability, aging or for example after surgery.
Pressure care chair for the disabled and elderly
A pressure care chair is ideal for patients who spend extended periods of time sitting. Pressure relief chairs are designed to redistribute pressure across the surface of the skin, which puts less pressure and minimises the risk of developing pressure damage. Chair accessories such as the Configura Comfort Cushionair Cushion, a variety of back- and headrests, and lateral support all help prevent and treat pressure ulcers. If the elderly or disabled patient requires specific mobility aids such as transfer via hoist or manual transfer, a pressure care chair with a lift function can make everyday routines a lot easier.
Bariatric users (BMI over 30) will need a chair that is larger than the standard. The Configura Bariatric chair is the ideal chair for this type of patient.
